Adrienne and Vincent's Amazing Wedding at CBI

Monday August 23, 2010

Adrienne put together her dream wedding at Chatham Bars Inn this July, which is not that hard to do with such an amazing venue and staff. But she really put her spin and style into everything with such elegance and simplicity. From her contemporary designed yet classic curved dress to the Cape Cod classic use of Hydrangeas for her flowers to the adorable color coordination of her 3 flower girls, her bridesmaids and her ring-bearers - everything was perfect.

It didn’t hurt at all to have a pretty much “picture-perfect” day weather and location wise; soft clouds, a great beach and a light wind to play with for her portrait w/veil photographs. Vince and Adrienne chose to have an intimate reception with close friends and family members. And we chose to set some time aside specifically at dusk to go for a great photo walk on the beach with the harbor in the background.

It was a wonderful day to capture for this lovely couple. If you would like to see more images, feel free to view my Facebook page or check out my photostream on Flickr.

Enjoy!!

Superb Portraits from Maura and Frank's Wedding

Saturday July 31, 2010

Maura and Frank had a really amazing wedding  in Connecticut with their ceremony at the beautiful St James Episcopal Church in New London and their portrait session on Ender's Island in Mystic.

Even with strong wind gusts and very high contrast light, they were a wonderful couple to work with. They allowed me to be creative with the location they chose and the options it offered. They were also one of the more comfortable and relaxed couples I have captured in a while; hence the great limo shot.

Enjoy the pics and if you want to see more, make comments, etc: go to my Professional Facebook page, check out my photostream on Flickr or go to my SmugMug gallery of their wedding.

A little slippery for his tux shoes, but this rock was great for getting them up in the wind a little more for this angled image.

The "Getting Ready" pics, Maura's Wedding

Tuesday July 20, 2010

I really love capturing a bride getting ready and I wanted to highlight that in this blog and especially from this wedding. Yes, Maura is stunning, but she didn’t get ready in the “perfect Penthouse Suite” or some elaborately set-up room with amazing lighting. It was a fairly cramped hotel room with stuff on the bed and all the usual wedding accoutrements strewn around the room, and one window with light brightly streaming in. So, as always, you work with your location on wedding days and this meant quickly cleaning up the room enough to get some great shots.

She also didn’t want a ton of emphasis put on her getting-ready pics, so she was pretty much almost ready to go when I got there. We had a quick maybe 15 minutes to put together some beautiful images.

The getting ready pics I personally think are a great way to begin the story of your amazing day. So much effort goes into planning what dress you will have, what style of jewelry, what kind of veil, the shoes and so much more. This time is sometimes the only time to get great details of these special items and the moments that go into getting prepared for an amazing but brief wedding day.

I hope you like the photos. Let me know if you have any questions about how they were created. For more from Maura and Frank’s stunning wedding day feel free to check out the small portfolio I put together on my WECPhotosSmugMug page, go to my professional Facebook page for more or you can check out my Flickr photostream.

Megan and Ronnie's Wedding Day

Tuesday July 13, 2010

Megan and Ronnie chose the beautiful location of the Hellenic Center in Ipswich, MA for both their ceremony held outdoors and their reception inside. It is a really amazing property to use for portraits, with natural flowers, shading trees and rolling grass hills.

Besides working on a lot of superb real candid photography for this couple's special day, I wanted to focus on creating great square images. It is very easy to become conditioned to thinking horizontally (landscape style) or vertically (portrait style) when shooting weddings and events with digital SLR cameras. I have always loved the square image and enjoy thinking about this image parameter when I am shooting weddings, portraits and gourmet work.

Here are a few samples from their great wedding day. To see much much more: I have put a gallery together on my SmugMug site, there’s an extensive album on my Facebook page for tagging photos, etc., and I have a flickr gallery as well. Feel free to comment and share.

Kao & Dan's wonderful wedding

Thursday July 8, 2010

Kao & Dan’s Wedding was at the Fruitland Museum on Prospect Hill in Harvard, MA 30 miles north of Boston. The Fruitlands Museum is an amazing property with multiple acres and some amazing sculptures. Alcott’s Restaurant is part of the Fruitland Museum and they have an amazing tent set up for the summer and fall wedding season; it is atop the main hill overlooking an fantastic view below.

The weather was very iffy for Kao & Dan’s special wedding day, but it held out and provided fantastic lighting for the large family portraits after the ceremony. Both of them had large families and it was very important to have great images created of all the guests and family members. A good number of the guests were kids as well, and the couple placed strong emphasis on candid photography of them.

As always, I wanted to document the couple's special wedding day in a creative and journalistic fashion, telling the full story of their day. Here is just a smattering of images from their great wedding day. To view much much more, feel free to view the abbreviated SmugMug gallery, check out a slew of images on my facebook page and on my flickr photostream.

I hope you enjoy, let me know what you think.

Rebecca & Brian's Wedding at the Danversport Yacht Club

Saturday June 26, 2010

Rebecca & Brian chose to have their wedding ceremony and reception at the Danversport Yacht Club. It is a beautiful facility that I have had the great opportunity to shoot weddings at a few times before. One of my absolute favorite attributes of this yacht club is its consistently superb sunsets over the Porter River leading into Beverly Harbor. They have an amazing spot along the water for taking the couple on a photo walk and portrait session during dusk.

Rebecca did all her preparations at a nearby hotel, as did Brian and the boys in a separate room. They took trolleys to the yacht club and had their ceremony outside at the Gazebo on the south lawn. Then they moved into the main reception space for a great party.

I put a good deal of emphasis on creating some fantastic Black & White images for Brian and Becky because they were very interested in a mix of both color and b&w. But I definitely love the color dusk photos we created the most of all.

I hope you enjoy!!

Tina & Liam's Wedding, Salem, MA

Thursday May 20, 2010

Tina and Liam had a very culturally diverse wedding with the mixing of their Chinese and Scottish backgrounds, but used the beautiful traditional setting of a Catholic church in Salem with their reception at the gorgeous Hawthorne Inn right next to the Common in Salem.

This is just a tiny smattering of their wedding images from their special day; I will be working on their phtoos for a few weeks. Tina changed into a Chinese gown later on during the reception and both Liam and his groomsmen went with the traditional Scottish Kilts. We hadn't planned on using the peddycabs in Salem, but when the opportunity arrived it couldn't be passed up.

Enjoy the images!!

Capturing Tracy & Justin's Wedding with Black and White photographs

Wednesday May 5, 2010

For Tracy & Justin’s wedding I placed a strong emphasis on creating superb digital B&W images from their special day. Though five years ago I would have never guessed that I would enjoy or even be willing to create digital B&W images instead of using film, now I really enjoy capturing weddings, portraits, food and architecture digitally with the intention of creating black and white post-production photographs. I must admit that I got a little lucky with the weather for this wedding with some soft clouds and decreased glare for most of the day.

I hear from many commercial photographers that a good deal of them still find it difficult to create superb digital B&W images. I was hesitant to use digital for B&W photography from the onset years ago until I learned some great techniques for achieving the contrast, shadow and grain qualities that I yearned for with digital darkroom manipulations and some specific shooting techniques. First of all I almost always shoot in RAW format and especially if I am planning on the images ending up B&W; this way I can play with shadows much better and a whole slew of other parameters.

I love creating Black and White wedding images because I feel they add a great sense of class and ageless beauty to capturing such amazing events. Additionally as viewers our eyes are drawn to specific shadow and line details that don’t pop out as much in color images.

I hope you enjoy these images from this late April wedding in southern New Hampshire at the Brookstone Park in Derry.

Island Weddings Magazine Featured Article

Thursday April 22, 2010

Island Weddings Magazine is releasing this Daffodil Weekend their annual beautiful edition about planning weddings on Nantucket. I am blessed to have the magazine highlighting one of my favorite weddings I captured on Nantucket: Ashley and David’s stunning wedding day at a private estate off Almanac Road in the Polpis area.

This was one of those September weddings on Nantucket (the Grey Lady) where we really thought the storms would potentially alter Ashley and Dave’s plans for their special outdoor wedding day; but about an hour before the ceremony everything cleared out for a few hours. They were blessed with spectacular lighting, if not a fairly high due point.

Ashley and David were really looking for a comfortable candid photographer to document their day without intruding on the moments as they unfolded, which made them very easy to work with and create for. Their day was also made easier by working with Mark & Eithne at the Nantucket Catering Company again, they always do such a great job with such ease.

In addition to getting to read a little about this wedding here and in Island Weddings Magazine, I have showcased this wedding on my Portfolio page as well. And I have put up a smattering of some of my favorite images from this wedding on my Facebook page.

Thanks for viewing, keep updated.

Toria & Dave's Wedding @ Chatham Bars Inn

Thursday April 15, 2010

This was a great wedding that I shot on a very cold and windy day at Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod. I was amazed that the bride and groom were able to stay outside for even 4 minutes; it was 32 and below the whole day with 30 mph wind gusts. But they were fantastic to work with. Toria, beauty director at VOGUE, really wanted me to place great emphasis on creating candid and comfortable yet beautiful images that displayed the intimacy of her day spent with special guests and family and of-course her groom.  As always it was great to shoot at CBI even with the wintry weather in late November.

The Rings

The twin nieces and another niece as flower girls were a true pleasure to capture as well.

Great Family Portraits

Wednesday March 31, 2010

I had the great opportunity recently to create portraits for this family in Winchester, MA. They were a joy to work with and, even though the mother told me the boy would be difficult to get decent pictures of, I think I got some great shots. Did I forget to mention, it was freezing outside when we did these photos, in the 30's.

Of-course, in my opinion, both of these kids could probably successfully model.

Speaking at a Wedding Planner Certification Program

Saturday February 27, 2010

I have been asked by Amy Hamilton of Amy Elizabeth Events-Weddings to speak at the Wedding Planner Certification class on the 3rd. of March that she'll be instructing at Nothern Essex Community College. We will review a wedding that Amy and I worked on together  last year at the Liberty Hotel in Boston and I will cover a few key topics: time-lines for wedding days, working with venue managers & staff and how photographers approach individual special wedding days and how they work throughout the day.

I have thrown in a couple detail images from this wedding for fun.

Wayne Chinnock Wedding Photographer has relaunched!

Thursday February 25, 2010

Wayne Chinnock Wedding Photography has just re-launched and Wayne is really excited about the new look & feel of the entire site and company. He has reworked everything from web-pages and portfolios to contracts and resources. With help from Noah at Learner Design we have created a site that is very user friendly whether our viewers are on their cell phone or on a 32” desktop screen. Our theme the whole way through was to work on making the site lean, clean and sexy but always easy to use by You. We want You to let us know if we have, and if you have any suggestions.

We have also started working more with social networking and making it easier for you to find us on facebook, flickr and Wayne’s SmugMug site, in order to keep up with recent events, great new shoots, or some ideas we may have. Wayne has also worked with some wonderful vendors, coordinators and planners over the years and now has a great resources page added to his site. There you will find helpful ideas in addition to superb vendors in the Boston and Cape Cod areas.
Stay posted, give feedback and just stay in touch in general. Thanks for viewing and we’ll keep the info and ideas flowing.
