Initially, the work we viewed on Wayne’s website appealed to us. Upon inquiring, Wayne was quick to respond. He provided us with a promotional DVD that featured some of his wedding portfolios. Compared to the other photographers we interviewed, Wayne appeared to have the ability to go far beyond the expected series of posed shots. We connected with him immediately and felt comfortable that he was someone we could work with. He had several suggestions about lighting and framing that were very helpful as we planned out our day. My wife and I are both in the visual arts and Wayne’s aesthetic sensibility appealed to us right away.
On the day of our ceremony, Wayne was self-directed, noninvasive and seemingly omnipresence amongst family. He had his work cut out for him having such a personal gathering in a very tight space. His demeanor during the day was one of an organized professional while still being friendly and approachable. Wayne was energetic, enthusiastic and upbeat despite the unseasonably hot weather for early July. Consistent with our initial impression of his work, Wayne captured the true spirit of the day. The finished product was a collection of images that spanned the day, capturing tender moments from start to finish at the various chosen destinations. His photo journalistic approach was why we hired him in the first place and he lived up to our expectations.

Our wedding was in the romantic setting of a California winery. Wayne wowed the guests with his personable nature. Wayne also wowed us with his incredible pictures. We specifically asked for close-up natural shots and he did an excellent job. When we look at the photos, we feel that they tell a story about that day. Unlike many wedding pictures that seem staged or unnatural, these photos evoke vivid memories and capture the true personalities of those in them. And, he managed to make us look good!! Wayne brought to his job professionalism, a keen eye, good advice and dynamic energy.

Wayne didn’t need hours of our time to understand what we wanted – we just trusted him. Regarding the day-of-wedding stages, my husband Ken said, “I felt like it was a best friend of mine taking snapshots.” Wayne went from the bride to groom area with a sixth sense about what to capture. He got me laughing in rollers (the most flattering of shots, actually!) and was the premier documenter.
Wayne is upfront and clear about what he provides and what he expects. What he doesn’t tell you – and what I’d like to share is this – he is extraordinarily sensitive to his surroundings and to the people that he serves with his artistry. And he’s also a really cool guy. Personally, I wanted to have very ‘real’ photography during the ceremony event and reception. I wasn’t too focused on posed photos and prearranged settings. However, the groom’s parents had pretty specific ideas about the photos they’d like – 19 or 20 in all. It couldn’t have worked out more beautifully – Wayne was able to create a specific yet flexible timeframe for prearranged photos that allowed us all to socialize while creating the photo memories that our families wanted to capture.
I had the luxury of truly being a guest at my own event – that is priceless. I never noticed Wayne that day. Yet, when we returned from our trip our photos were there for me to see… Unbelievable. Wayne was in places I hadn’t expected. Angles I never knew existed! I’m not sure how Wayne manages to be in three places at the same time, how he seems to see that exact moment that you hug your sister in congratulations, your mother in adoration or your colleague in honor. And I’ll tell you – if you talk to Wayne honestly and tell him your visualization – he will come away from that meeting with a combination of you heart’s idea and his artistry. It will be amazing!

I first met Wayne Chinnock when he photographed my brother and sister-in-law’s wedding in August, 2008. As part of the wedding party, I can attest that Wayne made everyone feel comfortable with his fun, charismatic and professional attitude. Before I even saw the finished post-production images from my brother and sister-in-law’s wedding I knew I wanted Wayne to photograph my upcoming wedding. After seeing Wayne’s work from my brother and sister-in-law’s wedding I was completely blown away and looking forward to working with Wayne for my own wedding.
As the bride, I was so pleased with the way Wayne assisted in planning out the day. The stress of planning a wedding can be overwhelming but Wayne assured me that he would capture the events we wanted and he definitely did! Wayne also ensured that he captured photographs of my husband and I by the lake where our reception was when the lighting outside was absolutely perfect. He has a way of capturing sentimental moments.
The post-production images of our wedding are absolutely gorgeous and I could not be more pleased with Wayne’s work. I am so grateful that we had him as our photographer. He captured so many special moments that will allow us to be reminded of precious memories for years to come.
